Look who’s on the saree!

HYDERABAD: The Baahubali craze has gotten to a new level with ladies wearing sarees that have posters of Baahubali printed on them. This was an idea of  Rajani Sakuntala, a Telugu writer, gave orders to a printing mill in Andhra Pradesh to create 50 Baahubali-inspired sarees to flaunt at the premiere.

These Georgette sarees have the couple –  Baahubali and Deva Sena, while the others have fire and warfare printed on them.  Rajani was fascinated with the movie merchandise.

“I saw the craze the movie was garnering on Facebook and Twitter and wanted to do be part of it. So I got 50 sarees printed specifically for the movie premiere,” she says. These initial 50 were just for herself and her close friends, but as the demand for them rose, she will be printing 500 more.

Rajani did not expect this to become so sensational and is shocked at the response.  This fanaticism is not only in India, but across the world in US as well.

A group of women dressed up in these sarees and went to watch the film. These fancy sarees may show a fans real love, but they also may have copyright violation written all over it.

“We are celebrating that film! I’m sure director Rajamouli will be happy to see these, we are all trying to get in him to meet him in these sarees,” Rajini adds.

There are some Hyderabad stores such as Jaju Fashions and CMR in Visakhapatnam that are also selling these for `800.  The official merchandise is available in shop.baahubali.com/ T-shirts, hoodies, pants swords, mugs, posters, coasters, iPad cases,  mobile skin covers, but no sarees on the website as yet.
