Not getting a loan? Get it through salaams

HYDERABAD:Nisha Bakshi was born in the outskirts of Hyderabad, but never belonged there. Her family always made her feel like an outsider and never accepted her for who she is, a transgender. She moved to Mumbai to start fresh and was embraced by the transgender community there. Nisha works in a dance bar in Mumbai, but wants to start her own saree shop, but her loan applications to start a small business have been rejected time and again, due to her sexual orientation.

For those individuals who struggle to get their loan application accepted due to a variety of reasons such as inadequate/irregular income or improper documentation, Tata Capital has launched Salaam Loans.  - a unique way to extend loans. Tata Capital Limited’s MD and CEO,  Praveen Kadle, says, The Salaam Loans aims to widen access to credit to those deserving individuals who typically have little or no access to the organized financial system.”

Under the initiative #LoanKaHaq, many like Nisha would be able to upload their own story, or stories of people they want to nominate for the loan, on the website www.doright.in . These will then be showcased across the country via social and digital media and the public can vote or ‘salaam’ for the individual they think is most deserving for a loan of Rs 1 lakh. Once approved by the ‘salaams’ of the public, it will be processed by Tata Capital. Details on doright.in
