HYDERABAD: Jewellery brand Tanishq launched the grand Padmavati collection recently in an exclusive partnership with Bolllywood director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s latest movie, Padmavati. The lead roles have been played by Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor and Aditi Rao Hydari. Through this collection, Tanishq aims to revive dying art forms and to bring back the beauty of heritage and Rajasthani jewellery.

The Padmavati Collection is a breathtaking assortment of handcrafted jewellery with a keen focus on intricate craftsmanship. The collection includes pieces such as naths, arsi finger rings, bangles, chokers, necklaces, mathapattis, haathphools, finger rings, borlas, memands, todas, ear cuffs and armlets of the kind worn by the characters in the movie.

Tanishq recreated Mr. Bhansali’s vision of the era when Rani Padmavati’s tales of strong character and exceptional beauty echoed across the land of Rajasthan. With extensive research on the jewellery of that era, the focus was to recreate exquisite pieces that would perfectly define each character according to their personality. The design team at Tanishq used gold, pearls, opals, topaz, emeralds and kundan jewellery, to bring alive the beauty of Rajasthani jewellery.

One of the most stimulating projects for Tanishq, 200 karigars worked day and night for 600 days to create some of the most iconic pieces that will be showcased in the movie. Each piece of jewellery worn in the movie plays a significant role in some of the most crucial scenes such as the celebration of Diwali, Holi, Ghoomer and the Jauhar scenes. To celebrate a truly Tanishqwali Diwali, the brand has recreated the Padmavati collection for the consumers, that is inspired by the pieces worn in the film. This collection will be available in stores from 23rd September and starts at INR 75,000/-

Speaking about the collection, C K. Venkataraman, CEO, Jewellery Division, Titan Company Limited, says, “In India, there is no category as special as jewellery. It is about auspiciousness, adornment, culture, tradition and history. So naturally, when this opportunity of collaborating with Padmavati came our way, we were all very excited to go back in history and recreate those beautiful techniques in a very relevant and modern form for the discerning Indian woman, whom Tanishq proudly represents. The Padmavati collection is a reflection of the works of art from the era when jewellery was all about exquisiteness, craft, detail and grandeur; and promises to be a feast to the eyes of all jewellery lovers this Diwali.”

Says Deepika Sabharwal Tewari, Associate Vice President – Marketing, Jewellery Division,, “We are aiming to showcase our creativity and make these jewellery pieces a part of Bollywood history.”
Revathi Kant, Associate Vice President, Design, Innovation & Development, at Titan Company Ltd., says, “The entire team of designers, vendors, karigars have put in immense effort for over a year to give life to Bhansali’s vision. Our team has put in their heart and soul in creating these magnificent pieces. And as they say, you have to go through something intense to create something so dreamlike and that is pretty much the story of the Padmavati collection.”

Speaking about this association Queeta Rawat – Design Manager, North at Tanishq says, “A lot of research went into creating this collection. We went to Rajasthan to explore and understand the kind of designs that were prevalent at the time. The jewellery for the different scenes in the film have been designed to suit the characters and the emotions that the scene involved. With 200 karigars working their way with 500 kg of gold to create 1500 regal pieces of jewellery, this has been one of the most challenging projects for us to work on. Each piece worn by the lead actors have been handcrafted painstakingly.

Get Deepika’s regal look

The festive season gives you the perfect excuse to transform into the regal diva you have always wanted to be! Why not take inspiration from Deepika Padukone’s majestic look from “Padmavati” and amp up your glamour quotient this season?

For Make-up

Prepare your skin with Argan Oil facial to achieve a luminous glow. Apply a lightweight hydrating moisturizer followed by a medium base foundation to even out the skin surface.
For the eyes blend a soft brown cream eye shadow starting from the eyelid towards the brow bone. Use the same colour on the lower lid as well. Apply a pearl shimmer powder on the inner corner and the centre of the eyes. Line them with a thick black gel liner on the upper lash, extending it slightly upwards. Fill the water line with a dark black kohl pencil. Smudge it on water line. Finish off with double coats of mascara to lengthen and curl the lashes.
Shape the brows with a medium brown matte shadow powder. Shape them in your natural shape but mildly thicker. Join the brows at the centre using a light brown eyebrow pencil to give them a natural unibrow look.
Keep the cheeks minimal with a natural blush for a healthy glow. No contouring or highlighting is required as the skin must look very natural.
Complete the look with a cinnamon lip colour and showcase your inner queen.

For hair

The key to this look is achieving a neat low bun. Start by applying a heat protecting cream or a hair mousse and use a straightener to get the sleek effect.
Centre part your hair and spray some shine mist for that extra shine and sleekness, spray some shine mist all over and comb it.
Pull all your hair back and tie it down in a ponytail with a rubber band. Create a hollow right above the pony with two fingers and pass the ponytail through it.
Now start rolling the ends of the ponytail upwards, until it reaches your nape. Twist it to make a low bun. Finish the style by securing the bun with some bobby pins/U pins and you are ready to rule!
