MUMBAI: The Bombay High Court has admitted the appeal of Emile Jerome Mathew against his conviction in the Neeraj Grover murder case. Meanwhile, parents of Grover met Maharashtra Home Minister R R Patil in Mumbai, seeking the appointment of Ajmal Kasab case fame Ujjwal Nikam as government prosecutor in the case. According to reports, the government may yield to the demand.
Last month, the trial court had sentenced Jerome to 10 years in prison for killing Grover. Kannada actor Maria Susairaj was sentenced to three years in prison for destroying evidence. But she was released from Byculla jail in Mumbai a day later as she had already served this sentence during trial. Grover, a TV executive, was killed at Maria Susairaj’s Mumbai suburb flat on May 7, 2008, by Mathew.
