Your LPG cylinder has become dearer by Rs 11.42. With the government deciding to increase the commission paid to gas dealers, the price per cylinder will now be Rs 410.42 in the capital, up from an earlier Rs 399 (earlier rate in Chennai was Rs 386.5).
A hike in prices of petrol by 23 paise per litre and diesel by 10 paise per litre is also in the offing as the Oil ministry is mulling a raise in the commission for its dealers. The ministry on Friday issued orders raising the commission paid to LPG dealers from Rs 25.83 per 14.2-kg cylinder to Rs 37.25, government officials said. The 44 per cent per cylinder increase in commission on subsidised cooking fuel is being passed on to consumers, they said.
The hike comes within weeks of the government’s move to restrict the supply of subsidised cooking gas to six cylinders per household per year. Remaining supplies would have to be sourced at market rates. Commission paid on non-subsidised LPG too has been raised.
