NEW DELHI: About four gunmen stormed Park palace guesthouse in Kabul on Wednesday night, with reports that there were about 60 people inside, including 6-7 Indians.
Afghan special forces were still leading the operations, with one Indian reported to have been evacuated by the crisis response unit of the Afghan special forces at the time of going to press.
As per reports, 4-5 gunmen entered Park Palace guesthouse located in the posh neighbourhood of Shar-e-naw in Kabul.
Sources told Express that there were about 6-7 Indians staying in the guesthouse, run by the same Indian management whose other guesthouse, Park Star, was attacked in 2010 — an attack that left nine Indians dead.
PM Narendra Modi was already in Air Force One and ready to leave for China. “In the aircraft I got news about the attack in Kabul. Am concerned about the situation and I pray for everyone’s safety,” he said.
Half an hour later, Indian ambassador to Afghanistan, Amar Sinha tweeted that all Indians were safe and that evacuation was on.
