CHANDIGARH: Following the disruption of Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini's convoy in Gurugram after a group of Congress workers waved black flags, the Gurugram Police Commissioner has issued show-cause notices to two Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) for negligence and suspended 18 police personnel.

The Gurugram Police Commissioner, Sibash Kabiraj, took serious note of the breach and issued showcause notices to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (West), Karan Goel, and the DCP (Crime), Hitesh Yadav, both being Haryana Police Service officers.

He suspended 18 police personnel, including the Station House Officer of Civil Lines Police Station, Bijender Singh, and the security in-charge of the west zone, with immediate effect.

Gurugram Police spokesperson Sandeep Kumar said, "A departmental inquiry has been ordered against the Intelligence Officer."

An official clarified that negligence, lack of coordination or laxity in duty at any level in VIP security arrangements would be viewed seriously.

"If any disruption occurs in the security system, responsibility will be pinned, and strict departmental action will be taken as per the rules, ‘’ he said.

Sources said that there was no advance intelligence input about a possible protest along the Chief Minister’s route.

It is learnt that more than 15 Congress workers, led by the party’s rural district president Vardhan Yadav, were involved in the incident. The Police personnel travelling with the convoy tried to stop them, but the workers had already got close to the vehicles.

Shiv of Ghatola, Nikhil of Bhiwani, Anuj of Kanhai, Harkesh of Feroz Gandhi Colony, Aman of Patauda Chowk in Manohar Nagar, Rajiv Yadav of Krishna Nagar, and Harendra of Tauru in Mewat district have been arrested and booked in connection with the incident.

CM Saini was on his way to a ‘Chaupal’ programme at the GenH Startup Summit 2026 in Gurugram University after attending a meeting of the district public relations and grievance redressal committee.
