NEW DELHI: The 9th National Security Strategy (NSS) Conference, a two-day meeting focusing on contemporary national security challenges, will begin on Monday in a hybrid format, with both physical and virtual participation.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to attend the conference and inaugurate it in the presence of senior top-ranked police officers from various wings of police.
According to official sources, more than 850 officers from police and security forces across the country will participate in deliberations on a range of issues concerning national security.
The conference is expected to provide a platform for senior officers to exchange views on emerging threats, assess existing security challenges and discuss strategies to strengthen the country’s security architecture.
A senior official said wider discussions on security-related matters would take place during the two-day conference, with officers from various states and UTs expected to join both in person and virtually.
The previous, or 8th, National Security Strategy Conference was held in Delhi in 2025. It was inaugurated by Home Minister Amit Shah and organised by the Intelligence Bureau. The conference had featured extensive discussions on different aspects of national security, including threats posed by external forces considered inimical to the country’s interests and their linkages within India.
Sources said the 9th edition is expected to focus on the growing threat posed by drugs and narcotics. Deliberations are likely to be held on strategies for eliminating drug and narcotics modules, as well as identifying and disrupting the financial networks that support such activities.
Senior police officers from states and union territories are expected to participate in the discussions, either physically or through virtual platforms. The conference is likely to serve as an important forum for strengthening coordination among law enforcement and security agencies.
