NEW DELHI: West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, who arrived in Delhi for the first time after assuming office, on Friday said that the people residing illegally across his state would be identified and deported through the BSF to the countries from where they had allegedly infiltrated in the past. Speaking formally to the media at Banga Bhawan, the chief minister also announced that an expansion of his state cabinet would take place soon.
In a formal chat with the reporters after meeting President Droupadi Murmu, Vice-President CP Radhakrishnan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP national president Nitin Nabin and other senior leaders,
Adhikari appeared confident about bringing change to the state through what he described as good governance. He said that all central government schemes were now being implemented in West Bengal under his administration, which, he added, was fully committed to the state’s development. He further asserted that the Ayushman Bharat scheme would also be introduced in the state.
Adhikari also expressed optimism about securing Central funds for West Bengal. “West Bengal will receive funds and projects under the Namami Gange initiative, and we are fully committed to putting the state firmly on the path of development. The agricultural sector, too, will receive budgetary allocations for West Bengal,” he said.
He further reiterated that the strategically important ‘Chicken’s Neck’ region would be handed over to the NHAI for development from a strategic perspective. “We are implementing — and will continue to implement — all the commitments outlined in the BJP’s Sankalp Patra (manifesto),” he asserted, while adding that the ED and the CBI were carrying out their respective duties honestly.
