A Class 3 student allegedly thrashed a six-year-old kindergarten girl with stones and a flower pot inside a classroom at a school in Haryana's Panchkula, leaving her critically injured, with CCTV footage of the October 28 incident showing the horrific assault.

The incident took place at Sanskriti Model School, where the eight-year-old boy allegedly dragged the girl into a classroom, banged her head against a desk twice and threw her to the floor before kicking her, the footage showed.

He then repeatedly hit the girl with stones and a flower pot, leaving her unconscious in a pool of blood. The boy continued to drag and kick her even after she lost consciousness.

The motive behind the attack remains unclear.

Meanwhile, the girl's family has questioned how the assault went unnoticed despite CCTV cameras being monitored from the principal's office. According to news agency ANI, the family alleged that the boy had lured the girl to the first floor by telling her that her father had called for her.

The girl's uncle also told ANI that the same student later led the family to the spot where she was lying injured and unconscious. He questioned the school's security arrangements and the failure of its staff to prevent the incident.

"This incident serves as a lesson for all schools," he told ANI, warning that such incidents could undermine parents' confidence in sending their children to school.

Haryana Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda has constituted a committee to investigate the incident and assured the victim's family that the government was taking the matter "very seriously".

He said strict action would be taken against anyone found responsible for negligence, reiterating that there would be "no compromise" on the safety of children.
