THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala government has released the list of holidays and restricted holidays for government offices in 2017.
The employees will get holiday on January 2 for Mannam Jayanthi and January 26 for Republic Day. The offices will be closed on February 24 for Sivarathri. As per the schedule, there will be holidays for Maundi Thursday on April 13 and Good Friday/Vishu/ Dr B R Ambedkar Jayanthi on April 14.
In May, they will get one-day holiday on the first (May day). August 15 (Independence Day), Ayankali Jayanthi (August 28), Bakrid (September 9), Onam (September 4, 5), fourth Onam, Sree Narayana Guru Jayanthi (September 6), Sree Krishna Jayanthi (September 12, Sree Narayana Guru Samadhi (September 21), Mahanavami (September 29), Vijayadashami (September 30), Gandhi Jayanthi (October 2), Diwali (October 18), Milad E Sherif (December 2) and Christmas (December 25).
Easter (April 16), Ramzan (June 25), Karkidakavavu (July 23) and first Onam (September 3) fall on Sundays.
The employees of the Brahmin community will get a restricted holiday on August 7 (Avani Avittam). As the holidays of Vaikunda Swami Jayanthi (March 12) and Viswakarma Day (September 17) fall on Sunday, these are not included in the restricted holiday category.
