THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition MLAs kept up the clamour for the resignation of Health Minister K K Shylaja alive by staging a sit-in in the well of the House to the accompaniment of slogan shouting during question hour. Going one step further, they announced a boycott of proceedings as Zero Hour began. The minister continued to face the wrath of the Opposition outside too as KSU activists waved black flags at her, while she was proceeding to the Assembly from her official residence.
The UDF legislators directed slogans at Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan asking why E P Jayarajan was shown the door and K K Shylaja is retained in the Cabinet when both were found to have indulged in nepotism and favouritism.

‘HC findings a big blow to CM’
At a news conference later, Ramesh Chennithala said it is curious to see a government losing its democratic sense and remaining mute over highly adverse court observations in the appointment of  two members in the State Child Rights Commission, wherein the Health Minister has been held guilty of violating the oath of office and secrecy, and in the self-financing medical admissions and fees issue order.
The state government stands as an accused criminal, Chennithala said.
