THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Munnar has been adjudged the ‘Best Destination for Romance’ by the magazine ‘Lonely Planet’ at its ‘India Travel Award 2017’. P Bala Kiran, Director, Kerala Tourism, received the award from Bollywood actor Diana Penty at the sixth edition of Lonely Planet India Travel Awards. 


The award is considered another addition to the series of prominent awards won by Kerala Tourism this year. Bala Kiran said during the function Kerala was gaining popularity as India’s most preferred destination among Indian travellers. 


The state’s Tourism Department would continue to keep up the positive momentum with its perennial growth trajectory, he said. “One of the notable things about such awards is that they inspire other travel enthusiasts to visit and experience unexplored destinations.  

Moreover, the state has been witnessing constant progress in foreign as well as domestic tourist arrivals since 2011,” the Kerala Tourism Director said.Lonely Planet Magazine India Travel Award 2017 recognises best national and international travel destinations.
