KOCHI: Rajagiri Hospital received the Joint Commission International’s (JCI) Gold Seal of Approval for Hospital Accreditation for demonstrating continuous compliance with internationally-recognized standards. Executive Director and CEO of the hospital Fr Johnson Vazhappilly received the accreditation certificate from JCI President and CEO Paula Wilson at JCI headquarters in Chicago, USA.
The Gold Seal of Approval symbolises quality and reflects an organisation’s commitment to provide safe and effective patient care. Rajagiri Hospital underwent a rigorous on-site survey from November 21 to 25 by JCI experts, who evaluated its compliance with hospital standards related to International Patient Safety Goals, patient assessment and care, anaesthesia and surgical care, medication management, patient and family education, quality improvement, infection prevention and control, governance and leadership, facility management, staff qualifications and education, and information management.
“The JCI accreditation provides hospitals with processes contributing to improvements in a variety of areas, from staff education enhancement to demonstration of leading practices within the hospital setting,” said JCI Vice-President (Accreditation, Standards, and Measurement) Paul Chang on the occasion. Fr Johnson said the organisation’s staff continued to work together to develop and implement approaches and strategies that could “improve care for patients in our community.”
