KOCHI: A Vigilance probe is on against the deputy tahsildar of Pala for amassing wealth disproportionate to her known sources of income.The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) Special Cell (Central zone) had registered a case against Shiny Cherian, a Lalam native who was deputy tahsildar in the Pala Revenue Recovery office, in the last week of July.
The FIR filed before the Kottayam Vigilance Court said the accused acquired assets worth `1.68 crore against a total expenditure of `1.03 crore and the total income of 1.27 crore while in office between January, 2011, and October, 2016.The disproportionate assets in Shiny’s possession at the end of October, 2016, were found to be `1.44 crore, which was 113.68 per cent of her total income.
