Instagram (iOS/ Android /Free)

The most popular photo sharing app in the world gets video sharing in its latest update which lets you share bite-sized videos. Just like with photos you get a great choice of filters to process your videos and once you share them they will appear in a single stream along with all your photos. With the help of ‘breathtaking’ cinematic stabilisation, your videos will have a professional look and can be easily shared on any of the major social networks like Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Foursquare and Tumblr.

Vine (iOS/ Android/Free)

In many ways Vine is the app that started the whole mini video sharing trend. Owned by Twitter, Vine lets you record and post short video clips with a maximum length of six seconds. Since it borrows the principles of Twitter, you can search and post using hashtagged topics. You get unlimited uploads which can be shared not only to Twitter but also to Facebook. Just like Twitter, you get to search for, follow and talk to people, you can explore trending posts from around the world and featured hashtags.

Viddy (iOS/ Android/Free)

If you take some of the best features of Instagram, and some of the concepts of Vine and put them together, you will come up with Viddy, the favourite app of Hollywood celebrities. Unlike Vine, you can record videos of up to 30 seconds. Along with some wonderful filters, you can also add great soundtracks to your videos which can then be shared with all major social networks. If you are not a big fan of sharing videos publicly with the Viddy community, you can even share them using e-mail or text messages.

Tout (iOS/Android/Free)

Even though Tout looks to be similar to Vine with its short 15-second video capture, it is more of a ‘Twitter for video sharing’ app because it lets you post short video status updates. Once captured, your updates can be posted to different social networks, to your website or even to your app. Because Tout is used by some major media organisations like ESPN and Wall Street Journal, it is touted as the ‘real-time information network for up-to-the-minute video updates across news, sports, politics and entertainment.’
