

Dilip Chhabria, India’s ace automotive designer, has come a long way and has achieved great success in his long quest for designing automobiles. Qualified in transportation design from the Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, California, US, he has worked with General Motors in their Design Centre in the US.
Chhabria’s company also made the first prototype for the Aston Martin Vanquish which appeared in the James Bond movie Die Another Day.
In 2006, Chhabria announced DCStar, a company set up in Dubai that customises cars and other vehicles to suit customers’ requirements. He has designed Vanity Van for many stars such as Sanjay Dutt, Shah Rukh Khan. In August 2012, DC gave a complete external and internal make-over to Mahindra XUV 500 with seating chairs made to recline up to 150 degrees and enhanced lounge lighting.
For the propagation of his approach to automotive design DC has partnered with the D Y Patil Group to start DYPDC Center for Automotive Research and Studies which will nurture the next generation of Indian automotive designers.
His latest invention is ‘DC AVANTI’, the most economical sports car costs nearly Rs 25,00,000.
