Amazon Kindle Fire HDX (From approx. `15,000/ 7” or 8.9” HDX Display)

The Kindle Fire HDX, the latest tablet from Amazon’s stable, is the biggest update yet to the Kindle Fire brand. Available either with a 7” or 8.9” HDX display, the Fire HDX boasts of being 34 per cent lighter than the last generation at 300 grams, but still packs some powerful internals with a quad-core 2.2 GHz processor that combined with an updated software delivers a powerful experience and still gives you 11 hours of battery life. It runs on Amazon’s own interpretation of Android that boasts of an updated Silk browser, email and a system wide integration of Twitter and Facebook. Watching movies and listening to music is made more pleasurable because of the dual stereo speakers with Dolby Digital Plus audio. The party trick though is the Mayday button which gives you free , 24x7x365 on-device tech support through a video call to an Amazon tech representative.

Microsoft Surface 2 (From approx. `29,000/ 10.6”)

The follow-up to Microsoft’s highly unsuccessful tablet Surface is here, and just sticks with Surface 2. It runs on Windows RT 8.1 and boasts of a beautiful body made from VaporMg, nicely done in Magnesium colour. Available either with 32GB or 64GB of internal storage, it has a 2B RAM inside, supported by a NVIDIA Tegra 4 processor. On the back you will find a five-megapixel camera and on the front a 3.5-megapixel camera. Unlike many tablets, it has a full-size UBS 3.0 port, a microSD card reader and a HD video out port. It ships with free Microsoft Office and is complemented by custom-designed click-in keyboard covers in four different colours.

Microsoft Surface Pro 2 (From approx. `58,000/ 10.6”)

The Surface Pro 2 is the costlier, powerful cousin of the Surface 2 which is aimed at the professional. It looks similar to the Surface 2 except for its Dark Titanium body and the 10.6-inch ClearType Full HD Display. Available with internal storage of 64GB or 128GB with a corresponding 4Gb RAM, and 256GB or 512GB with a corresponding 8GB of RAM. You can extend it another 64GB using a microSDXC card and can also use the 200GB free SkyDrive storage that is included. It also has internals that can compete with any high-end laptop with 4th Gen Intel Core i5 Haswell processors and a TPM Chip for enterprise security with a battery that will give you 7-15 hours of usage on a single charge. On the back and front you will find 720p HD cameras.
