In 2005, the explosive growth and the immense popularity of Facebook necessitated the hiring of its first 10 engineers. Ruchi Sanghvi was one of them and will eternally be known as Facebook’s first female engineer. Ruchi, whom All Things D has called ‘one of the few most prominent women execs among today’s high-profile young technology companies’, has a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in electrical computer engineering from the Carnegie Mellon University. Before joining Facebook, she worked as a software engineer at Oracle. Later at Facebook as a Principal Product Manager she has worked on Facebook Platform and on the News Feed.

After five years at Facebook, overseeing some of the most important parts of the social network like the Homepage and Profiles, Ruchi quit in 2010 to co-found her first company Cove, a stealth collaboration startup. In 2012, when Cove was bought by Dropbox, Ruchi moved to it and is now the Vice President of Operations in which role she manages the product, marketing and communications functions and is credited with playing a big part in the success of the company. Ruchi is also an investor and adviser in many start-ups.
