CHENNAI: Once again the Flipkart website crashed after the much awaited phone Xiaomi Redmi 1s was sold within seconds of the opening of the sale.

Registrations for the sale of the Xiaomi Redmi 1s which was set to open at 2pm on Tuesday started at 6 pm August 26, 2014 and went on till 1st Sept midnight for Flipkart subscribers. But around 38,000 handsets were sold within seconds on the site as it opened the sale.

Monu Sharma, who works for a multinational company told Express, “I asked five of my friends to be online to buy the phone for me. Luckily, a friend of mine from Bangalore was able to get the phone. This phone is a revolution. At just Rs. 6000 we are getting all the specifications which we get in a phone priced at Rs 10,000".

The Redmi 1s has a 1.6 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with Cortex-A7 core and Adreno 305 image processor. The phone has an 8GB flash memory. It has a 4.7 inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 with 312 ppi. It has an 8MP primary camera and a 1.6MP secondary camera. It is giving competition to the likes of Moto E and Asus Zenfone 4 considering its price range. Moto E is price at Rs 6,999.
