NEW DELHI: Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan today accepted the No Confidence Motion against the Modi government moved by the Opposition parties including Congress, TDP, RJD and CPI. The Parliament witnessed a ruckus today over various issues like mob lynching and demand for Special Status to Andhra Pradesh.

Congress MP Jyotiraditya Scindia and CPI leader D Raja moved the motions in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha respectively.

Congress leader Shashi Tharoor urged PM Narendra Modi to break his silence on the ongoing lynchings in the country. The House is adjourned till 2 pm later.

Minutes before the commencement of the Parliament's Monsoon session, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the government is ready to face the Opposition.
Modi said,"We hope that MonsoonSession of Parliament functions smoothly, whatever issues any party has, it can raise on the floor of the house. Govt is ready for discussion on all issues".
During the last budget session, out of alloted 400 hours, the Parliament spent only 127 hours. The Lok Sabha only spent 1% of its time on the legislative business.
Modi while addressing the media also added,"I hope all the parties and cabinet ministers use the allotted time to work together in bringing the country forward".
This session, over the next 18 sessions, it is expected to take up a total 68 pending cases.
