Sameera Reddy is just two films old in Tamil — Vaaranam Aayiram and Aasal, but the tall and dusky actor has a huge fan following in the south. She also has a a quirky sense of humour. Talking about her fans, she said, “A guy from Patna used to send me love letters. It continued for four long years, and thank god my father came as a saviour. I don’t know what he did, but I stopped receiving letters from him. The guy was really crazy,” she laughs.
What about her fans from Tamil Nadu? “I receive a lot of mails, and fans also tweet me. It’s really funny when they call me by my screen name in Vaaranam Aayiram, Meghna. I keep telling them to call me by my real name Sameera. But they say, ‘You’re my Meghna.’ There are even some fans who send me mails saying they went to Tiruchy by train but that they couldn’t find me.” (In Vaaranam Aayiram, Suriya meets Sameera during his train journey). On how she responds to the overwhelming fan mail, the actor chuckles and responds, “I love my father as he finds time to reply to each and every letter that I’ve received. I sign on my photographs and my dad sends it along with the letter.”
And now for the really interesting stuff: Has she found her Mr Right yet? “I’m quite upset that I haven’t found my guy. I’m always on the move, and don’t have time to sit back and spend time with the ones I like. I felt very bad on New Year’s Eve when everyone was going around in Mumbai with a boyfriend. I won’t feel the same on Valentine’s Day because it’s so unfair to dedicate only one day to your loved ones. I’m still looking for the one and hope I will find him soon some day,” she says.
On her plans for the future, Sameera said that while looking forward to the release of Gautham Menon’s Nadunisi Naigal, she’s also doing an untitled film with Vishal at present. “Prabhu Deva is directing it. One more is in my kitty with Arya and Madhavan playing lead roles. I play a village belle in the film. The movie is directed by Lingusamy.”
