Kentucky-based grandma Betty has become the new Internet celebrity.
After the 80-year-old was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, her great grandson Zach Belden made an Instagram account for her in January this year. In just three months, her account has grown to over 1,20,000 followers.
Unfortunately, Betty is too frail to undergo chemotherapy or any other treatment. But Instagram has brought a lot of excitement into her last days. After Zach began sharing Betty’s selfies, she started receiving good wishes, prayers and words of support from people across the world. All the virtual attention has also made Betty a local news star. Betty told reporters that she feels like a celebrity every time she gets a new follower. And Zach said the Instagram account is about spending time with his great grandma while creating something they’ll have of her forever.
