Shaji Paappan and his peppy gang are all set to make a comeback in theatres this Christmas. Director Midhun Manuel Thomas, who will be helming Aadu 2, the sequel to his Aadu Oru Bheegara Jeeviyanu, said that the shooting for the film will begin in August. He decided to make the sequel based on popular sentiments.

“There is so much demand for a sequel. We had been contemplating this for some time ever since the film became a sleeper hit.

However, when we learned that there were so many fans for Shaji Pappan who were renting out theatres  to screen the movie again and again, we realised we had to come out with a part two,” said Midhun. The most recent screening of the film was at

Sreekumar Theatre in Thiruvananthapuram which was organised by students of Mar Ivanios College.

Midhun, is currently wrapping up shooting for Alamara which will hit theatres this March.

The director said that Jayasurya will reprise his role as Shaji Pappan in Aadu 2, but he is yet to finalise on the rest of the team.

“ It may be the same team but we are yet to confirm this,” he added. The movie, which became a superhit owing to its slapstick humour and entertaining musical lyrics, may or may not have a goat as the central character.
