GUWAHATI: Legendary musician Dr Bhupen Hazarika was on Thursday conferred with the first-ever Asom Ratna award.
The award, instituted by the Assam government, carries a cash prize of Rs 3 lakh, a plaque and a citation. A gramophone was also presented to Hazarika. Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi conferred the award on Hazarika at a gala function held at the ITA Centre here.
