NEW DELHI: On a day the Left, AIADMK and TDP marched to the Rashtrapati Bhavan seeking President Pratibha Patil’s intervention to end the Parliament deadlock, Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal questioned the rationale behind the Opposition’s demand for a joint parliamentary probe.

Citing the ongoing case in the Supreme Court, which deals with the personal, criminal culpability aspect of the scam and the administrative

measures initiated by him on Monday, Sibal said, “Where is the scope of a JPC? What will the JPC do?”

While accusing the Opposition of not letting Parliament function, he almost gave away the government’s fear, “They want a joint parliamentary so that they can create controversy on a daily basis. The opposition definitely has a right to throw out the government but if it can’t, it should allow the government to

function,” the Telecom Minister said.
