NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police on Wednesday submitted the autopsy report on Gajendra Singh, the Rajasthan farmer who had committed suicide during the AAP rally here, to the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The report, which was handed over to the Delhi Police by Lady Hardinge Medical College on Tuesday, confirmed that the 41-year-old farmer had indeed died due to hanging. The report also mentions that there were seven injury marks on his body.

The medico-legal autopsy report, signed by a panel of three doctors, was also shared with the District Magistrate Sanjay Kumar, who is conducting a parallel inquiry into the case on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s orders.

The final autopsy report says, “Death was due to asphyxia caused by constriction of the neck as a result of ante-mortem hanging. All the external injuries are ante-mortem in nature and fresh in duration, which could have been caused by/during the process of climbing the tree of hanging.”

The report further said that there were seven abrasion marks in the middle of Gajendra’s chin and right and left elbows, probably caused while he was climbing the tree or when he fell on the ground. It also says that there was no fracture on any part of his body.

Meanwhile, two eyewitnesses have came forward and recorded their statements with the police. One of them stated that the AAP leaders and volunteers had instigated Gajendra to commit suicide, while the other said that deceased was seen with AAP leader Kumar Vishwas.

The police is mulling whether to question Vishwas in the case. Before that, they are trying to analyse Gajendra’s call data records.
