NEW DELHI: The VHP, which spearheaded the reconversion drive in various parts of the country, on Friday said Ghar Waapsi programme would continue. The saffron outfit also urged the Centre to promulgate a strong anti-conversion law .
VHP general secretary Champat Rai, who briefed reporters on the recent decisions taken by the organisation at its national meet held in Hyderabad, passed a resolution against the conversion carried out by the other religious groups.
”The ‘Ghar Vapsi’ campaigns are not a phenomenon of today. Hindus were converted as Muslims or Christians by force, allurement and fraud. All those people should be brought back. We do not make use of any allurements, coercion or fraud. We connect all such people returning through ‘ghar vapsi’ with their roots and ancestors,” Rai added.
He further said, “If we have to make India free from any tension, the ‘ghar vapsi’ campaigns should continue as a normal practice.” According to Rai, the VHP backed the Centre’s statement on bringing in an anti-conversion law.
As the VHP is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its inception, it is holding Viraat Hindu Samellans across the country and would hold such programmes in 250 cities.
