The body of Yakub Abdul Razzak Memon, the convict in the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts case, who was hanged to death in the Nagpur Central Prison will be taken to Mumbai amid tight security.
The flight carrying the body is expected to leave Nagpur around 10.45 am. An unprecedented high security alert has been sounded in Mumbai city to prevent any untoward incidents.
Traffic constables and armed police officers are controlling traffic outside Bada Kabristan, where Memon is expected to be buried.
Security has been stepped up in Marine Lines and several other key areas of the city.
Memon was hanged at 6:43 AM this morning following a day of intense court room action and an unprecedented night long legal proceeding that saw the Supreme Court hearing and then rejecting his final mercy petition early on Thursday morning.
