The global CEO of Nestle Paul Bulcke claimed that they don't add Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) in Maggi noodles and assured that their product was safe for consumption.

Addressing a press conference on the ongoing issue on Friday, Paul said that a decision has been taken to remove Maggi from the shelves of the market till the consumers are assured safety.

With more states deciding to ban the Maggi noodles, Nestle India decided to withdraw the popular snack. He also said that the same quality and standards are maintained on their product across the world.

Talking about the tests ran within their company Paul said that "All results that came out indicate that Maggi noodles are safe for consumption."

After Delhi, four more states -- Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand -- on Thursday banned the sale of Maggi noodles.Delhi had on Wednesday banned sale of the food item for high lead content and mono-sodium glutamate or MSG, a taste enhancer.

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) had on Thursday refuted the claims made by Nestle saying that reports from Delhi and Kerala on Maggi are absolutely authentic and that the company must recall the batches of products which failed the test.

FSSAI chief Yudhvir Singh Malik had pitched for self-compliance by the company adding that after reports of samples from Delhi and Kerala, the product should have been withdrawn as per the established norms. “The law states that as soon as it comes to the notice of manufacturer that there is something wrong with the product, he is supposed to take recourse to recalling and withdrawing it,” Malik said.
