CHANDIGARH: Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Monday alleged that Congress and radical leaders were two sides of the same coin and accused the grand old party of disturbing peace and harmony in the state.

Addressing the ruling SAD-BJP’s first Sadbhavana rally in Bathinda, he appealed to the entire opposition, especially Congress leaders Captain Amarinder Singh and Partap Singh Bajwa, to shun divisive politics and not play with fire with an ulterior motive to disturb the atmosphere of peace and harmony. He warned that flames of hate politics would not only destroy the social fabric in the state but also engulf them.

Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal asserted that his party was the only force with the ability to defeat ‘evil forces’ out to destory hard-earned peace in the state. In the same breath, he reiterated his party’s resolve to rule the state for the next 25 years.

He said SAD was ever ready to face it in the political arena. Sounding the poll bugle, he said the rally should be regarded as the beginning of the battle of 2017.  He accused the Congress of fishing in troubled waters and poisoning the peaceful atmosphere of the state like it did three decades ago. Describing Congress as a leader of fascist forces, Badal said the recently-held Chabba congregation was proof that Congress, BSP and AAP were hand in glove with anti-Punjab, anti-national and secessionist forces.

He said the Gandhi family had never cared for Punjab and was responsible for storming of the Golden Temple complex and the anti-Sikh genocide.
