1. We are dedicated to reforming from the perspective of regulation, from the perspective of academic interaction, from the perspective of facilitation with States and the clarion call given by the Prime Minister on cooperative federalism, which has been reflected on the HRD ministry.

When we launched the Rashtriya Avishkaar Abhiyan, many asked me about its impact. We see it today. In Auraiya district of Uttar Pradesh, we sent an IIT professor to train teachers in government schools. Because of that, for the first time children saw a science kit. It impacted 27 villages and government schools. Children now prefer to study in such schools. It is a big achievement.

Swachh Vidyalaya has seen historic achievement; in one year we managed to make separate toilets for boys and girls in government schools. If we had said it before we accomplished it, everyone would have though it was an unachievable goal, but we achieved it. In Shopian district of Jammu & Kashmir, girls’ enrollment has increased.

The GIAN initiative has been a major success. When it began, people asked, ‘Who will come to teach’? Currently, 85 international academics are teaching in government institutions at no extra cost to the students.

2. None. Everything I planned, I managed to roll out.

3. Manpower planning is one aspect that needs to be looked into. Let’s presume that you want to open a B Ed college, would you want mushrooming of such institutes? How many geography teachers you will need five years from now, 10 years from now? Do you have the data today? We don’t. We are trying to find out the need of a district, of a state. That’s never happened before.

4. I do not. It is not an impact that you see suddenly. We’re helping build a generation for the country and that generation that will judge my performance, I can’t.
