Securitymen Fire in Air to Disperse Mob Jamming Poll Booth

They had to fire in the air to disperse a group of people who were trying to jam a booth in Sandeshkhali.

BARASAT(WB): Security personnel had to fire in the air at a polling booth to disperse a group of people who were trying to jam a booth in Sandeshkhali in North 24 Parganas district during the fourth phase of voting today, police said.

A group of people was trying to jam booth no. 174 of Sandeshkhali constituency when security force personnel first warned them and then removed them by using force, Additional Superintendent of Police Gaurav Lal said.

The group, however, returned with more men and were warned again. This time they tried to attack the security personnel who fired in the air.

The members of the group then fled, Lal said. No one was arrested.
