Eklavya Awardees and international medalist players to get Madhya Pradesh government jobs sans examinations

The appointment of winners of medals in international championships to posts of police sub-inspector and constable without examination and make similar arrangements in other government departments.

BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced on Tuesday to provide government jobs to Eklavya award winners, appoint winners of medals in international championships to posts of police sub-inspector and constable without examination and make similar arrangements in other government departments also.

He was addressing the Madhya Pradesh Shikhar Khel Alankaran Samaroh 2017 programme in Bhopal. The CM said that life is incomplete without sports. If sports come in politics, it’s a miracle but politics must not come in sports. In the vision with which the work of nation-building is in progress under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India will strike a record haul at 2020 Summer Olympics.

The country is making new history in sports and Madhya Pradesh will also lead in this which is apparent from the performance of its players. Half the players of Indian Womens’ Hockey team are from hockey academies of Madhya Pradesh, he said. Out of the 80 players from the state who took part in international tourneys, 46 bagged medals.

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Youth Affairs and Sports Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore said that a law will be formulated and reservation will be provided to players on fixed posts in central government jobs. In case there is no candidate for the required post reserved for players, the vacant post will be added to next year’s vacant posts.

A mobile application related to sports is being developed about information of sports grounds, other facilities and trainers will be made available. He said the central government is working on the vision of Khelo India. For the first time in the country, a massive tournament will be organized for Under-17 sports competitions from January 31, 2018, to February 8, 2018.

Various schools, federations and Sports Authority of India teams will participate in the tournament. The central government will also provide sponsorship of the first phase to make support and resources available to players. As many as 1000 players from all over the country will be provided sponsorship for 8 years at the rate of Rs 5 lakh per year, said Rathore.

Before the coming summer holidays, a talent hunt will be conducted for sports in the 8-14 age group in all schools. They will be provided training in the games on the basis of their physical capacities and skills. Similarly, arrangement is being made to honour and promote trainers who will scout these sports talents so that 20 percent of the incentive fixed for trainers of medal winners is obtained by the preliminary coach.

On the occasion Rio Paraolympic medalists Deepa Malik was honoured with Samman Nidhi of Rs 40 lakhs, Devendra Jhanjharia with Rs 50 lakhs, Mariappan Thangavelu with Rs 50 lakhs, Varun Singh Bhati with Rs 25 lakhs and bronze medal winner in Women’s wrestling in Rio-Olympics- 2016 Sakshi Malik with Rs 25 lakhs.

The member of Indian women hockey team, Anuradha Devi, P Susheela Chanu, Renuka Yadav and L.Felli of Madhya Pradesh State Women's’ Hockey Academy were honoured with Rs 5 lakhs each. Total 28 players of the state have been conferred with Shikhar Samman for Eklavya, Vikram and other sports awards for the year 2017.
