MUMBAI: In a first such case in the city, a 45-year-old woman has filed a case against her former live-in partner -- also a 45-year-old woman - for posting her nude photographs on social media.

A sessions court in the city, on Monday, rejected anticipatory bail plea of the woman against whom the complaint had been registered. However, the accused woman is not traceable, the police said.

The women, coworkers in the pathology department of a private hospital in western suburbs for a long time, were in relationship for over a decade. One of them was married and they became close after her divorce. They then became close friends and started living-in at Mulund in the eastern suburbs, the police said.

It was only about six months ago that trouble between them started when one of them realised that her pictures were being passed off on Facebook by her partner as her own for over two years. In the month of November last year, the victim learnt that her nude picture was used by the accused as her Whatsapp status. They confronted over the act and after a fight the accused allegedly threatened to malign the image of the victim and left the house. It was only after that that the victim lodged a complaint earlier this month, the police said.

The police also said that the accused was not traceable and they opposed the anticipatory bail plea on grounds that the mobile used for the act has not yet been traced.
