Kairana issue to figure in BJP's campaign for upcoming UP polls

Kairana issue will surely be the election issue for the BJP. The party will raise it during electioneering, as it exposes the minority appeasement policy of the ruling SP in UP, said a BJP source.

NEW DELHI: The BJP will raise the issue of the alleged exodus of Hindus from Kairana and the adjoining areas in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Claiming that the BJP is in direct contest with either the Samajwadi Party or the BSP on 90 per cent of the total 403 Assembly constituencies in the poll-bound state, a top BJP source stated that the party would raise area specific issue during the electioneering.

“The Kairana issue will surely be the election issue for the BJP. The party will raise it during the electioneering, as it exposes the minority appeasement policy of the ruling SP in the state. The BJP is also in the process of identifying pocket centric issues, which connect with the people on the ground,” added the top BJP source.

The BJP leader claimed that the SP and the BSP are in direct contests only in 10 per cent of the Assembly seats in the state. “The BJP is in direct fight either against SP or BSP in most of the state's 403 Assembly seats. That the image of the state chief minister Akhilesh Yadav is good will have no bearing on the voting patterns, as people will opt for the BJP since they want an alternative to the 15 long years of misgovernance,” said the BJP leader, who claimed that the ongoing family feud is diverting the attention of the people from the core issues of lack of development and deteriorating law and order situations in the state.

The issues of land grab and poor law and order under the SP government remain important for the people," said the BJP leader.
