RAIPUR: Another self-styled godman is in the crosshairs of the police in Chhattisgarhy for allegedly raping a law grad at his ashram in Alwar district in Rajasthan Jagatguru Falahari Kaushlendra Prapanchari purportedly sexually abused the woman at Divya Dham Ashram in Alwar on August 7 when she went to meet the godman. Her parents are ardent followers of the man and insisted that she offer her first salary as a tribute, Bilaspur superintendent of police Mayank Srivastava said.

Narrating the incident, Srivastava said the girl became a disciple of Falahari when she was pursuing graduate studies in Jaipur. “Falahari’s recommendation secured the woman an internship with a senior lawyer of the Supreme Court. She was offered Rs 3,000 as honorarium after completion of internship. Her parents urged her to offer her first income to the baba. So   she went to the Alwar ashram. Baba asked the girl to stay overnight and she was sexually abused,” Srivastav said.

The woman was initially scared to disclose the incident to her parents, who are strong followers of Falahari. However, emboldened by the sentencing of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in two rape cases, she lodged an FIR with the Bilaspur police, Srivastava said. “We have registered a case under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code. The case diary has been sent to Alwar for further investigation,” he added. Based on her complaint, an additional charge under Section 506  of the IPC  was also registered against Falahari.

The Alwar police reached the ashram but could not find the baba. The ashram residents told the police that he was “unwell” and had been admitted in an intensive care unit of a private hospital.
