NEW DELHI: Shunglu committee report has made Aam Aadmi party (AAP) speechless as the party is unable to give a reply to the allegation levelled against them.

AAP is also facing criticism from BJP as well as Congress. Both the parties have asked Delhi CM Arvind Kerjwal to step down from his post and asked for an explanation from Delhi CM. On the other side, AAP is raising question over the timing of ‘leaking’ the report but don’t have a reply on the allegation levelled against the government in Shunglu committee. The three-member Shunglu committee, formed by the then Lt Governor Najeeb Jung, has pointed out gross abuse of power.

Shunglu panel in its report has said that the Delhi government took over 150 decisions by circumventing "fundamental provisions" of rules. The panel has said there were a significant number of files where the Cabinet note was prepared in ministers' personal section and signed by the minister concerned without the matter being taken up for consultation or circulation.

Reacting to the report, BJP said asked CM Kejriwal to give an explanation on the allegation levelled against him and his party. “The attempt by the Delhi government is violative of established legal and constitutional positions and we demand clarification from AAP and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal,” Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in a press conference.

“The kind of information in the Shunglu Committee report pertains very seriously to issues of propriety and making decisions on subjects wherein it (AAP government) has no role to play,” she added.

Similarly, Congress also attack AAP and demanded Kejriwal’s resignation. “The friends and relatives of AAP leaders are being promoted and posted. What is this if not nepotism?. If Kejriwal has an iota of conscience, he should resign from his post immediately...the matter is probed by CBI,” Ajay Maken said in a press conference.

“Someone, who was initially appointed with one rupee as salary, later started drawing Rs 1.5 lakh,” she alleged.  “The report describes how the AAP government and its chief

Kejriwal misappropriated public money for their personal gains.     “It shows how illiterate they are and their lack of knowledge about the law of the land,” Member of Parliament from Delhi, Menakshi Lekhi said.

Meanwhile, AAP has alleged BJP of using old tricks to defame the party ahead of MCD polls. AAP's Delhi unit convenor Dilip Pandey attacked BJP and said that they are using similar tactics used in the past.

"When the Shunglu Committee was formed to probe the AAP government, why has the BJP not formed any panel to look into financial irregularities in the MCDs over the last 20 years," he said.
