NEW DELHI: After chairing a high-level review meeting on the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday complimented the security forces for neutralising all the three fidayeens who attacked a BSF camp in Srinagar.

The Home Minister also spoke to the chiefs of the Border Security Force (BSF) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) following the suicide attack at the BSF camp near Srinagar airport and complimented them for the successful anti-terror operations.

"I have spoken to the DG CRPF and DG BSF. It was a good operation that they have conducted," Singh told reporters here.

During the review meeting with top intelligence and ministry staff, Singh expressed satisfaction over the successful operations carried out by the security forces against the terrorists.

A group of three Jaish-e-Mohammad fidayeens launched a suicide attack on a BSF camp in the wee hours on Tuesday near the Srinagar Airport in which the BSF ASI was martyred and three other paramilitary personnel sustained injuries.

Initial assessments suggest the fidayeens had extensive knowledge of the BSF camp and might have gathered advance information on the locations inside the paramilitary facility.

The three terrorists had stormed the 182 Battalion BSF headquarters located at Humhama, Srinagar by firing from Grenade Launchers and automatic weapons.  Three BSF jawans got injured in first volley of bullets and grenade assaults. Alert sentries of BSF killed one terrorist immediately even before his entry into the camp, officials said.

"The teams of CRPF and Police neutralised second terrorist who was hiding in the Mess. The joint operations was led by BSF and assisted by CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir Police with great coordination which helped in neutralising the remaining two militants. The alert BSF sentry eliminated the first militant even before entering the camp,” the CRPF said in a statement here.
