LUCKNOW: The Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of Uttar Pradesh Police has arrested the mastermind of the Gorakhpur terror funding case. Ramesh Shah was arrested in Pune on Wednesday in a joint operation by the UP ATS and Maharashtra police, officials said on Thursday.

Shah, 28, will be brought to Lucknow on transit remand, produced in a court and remanded for further interrogation, an ATS spokesman said.

Shah’s name had cropped up during interrogation of six persons arrested from Gorakhpur on March 24 for their alleged involvement in terror funding on the directions of their handler in Pakistan, the spokesman said.

The six had revealed during their interrogation that it was on Shah’s instructions that more than `1 crore had changed hands between the Pakistani handler and the terror operatives.
