DEHRADUN: The Uttarakhand police has calleda BJP MLA for questioning after he was accused of rape by a woman, said sources from the police department. DIG (Dehradun range) Arun Mohan Joshi said, "We have received multiple complaints from people involved from both the sides. One FIR has been registered while other complaints are being looked into."

Meanwhile, the State Commision for Women has also sought the report in the matter till August 29.  "Explanation has been caught from senior superintendent of police, Almora and we have also written to DIG Dehradun. The case is sensitive and serious. This should be investigated properly," said commission chairperson Vijaya Barthwal.

Earlier last week, a woman from Almora accused the BJP MLA of rape and fathering a child. She also cited threat to her life and demanded DNA test to prove that the accused MLA is the father of her child. However, after the ex-wife of of a soldier accused the legislator, the MLA's wife lodged a complaint on Friday accusing the woman of blackmailing.

The woman also released a video on social media citing threat to her life and accused the MLA and his family of threatening and harassment. The family of the MLA further stated that they used to help the woman but have banned her entry into their house in Almora district due to her 'Objectationable' behaviour.

However, the woman denied the accusation and said that she was offered Rs 25 lakh by the MLA's family to keep mum. Interestingly, the wife of the MLA has written to the state police department officials requesting security for the woman.

Uttarakhand has a history of leaders who got embroiddled in sex scandals including former Chief Minister Narayan Dutt Tiwari.
