MUMBAI:  After Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, it was his deputy Manish Sisodia’s turn on Sunday to make a trip to Gujarat where the Aam Aadmi Party is gearing to contest the Assembly elections next year. Sisodia said it will be a straight contest between the ruling BJP and AAP in the state, where the saffron party has been in power for over two decades.

Sisodia said the people of Gujarat have got a good alternative now in the form of AAP. Addressing a press conference while campaigning for AAP candidates in the elections to the Surat Municipal Corporation, Sisodia said the people of the state had realised that Congress cannot defeat the BJP and it’s only the AAP that can do it. Time has come to defeat the BJP and bring the power of AAP to Gujarat.

The Congress has also failed as an Opposition party. It could not raise the people’s issue. The AAP will work hard and bring the change in Gujarat.” He also welcomed businessman Mahesh Savani from Surat into the party. Savani, who belongs to the politically influential Patidar community, is known for organising mass weddings for orphaned girls and also runs hostels for HIVpositive girls.

“People like Savani joining our party is a sign that the business community, as well as common citizens, want change in Gujarat,” said Sisodia. “The BJP was in power for over two decades but failed to bring inclusive change… The AAP is like a new hope for the people of the state.

We assure them that party will change the face of Gujarat,” the AAP leader said. “People’s trust and faith in the AAP are growing. The 2022 Gujarat Assembly polls will be between the party that has been ruling without bringing about any change and the party that has emerged from the people,” Sisodia said.
