NEW DELHI: The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) on Sunday declared the class X and class XII results. While 98.94 per cent students of class X cleared the exam, 96.93 per cent of class XII students were successful in board examinations.
Like in the CBSE final results, which were announced on Friday, girls outperform boys in both classes X (ICSE) and XII (ISC). The CISCE said girls have done better than boys, with a pass percentage of 99.21 per cent, while boys secured a pass percentage of 98.71 per cent in ICSE exams. Similarly in class XII, girls have achieved a pass percentage of 98.01 per cent compared to boys who achieved a pass percentage of 95.96 per cent.
The Council said that in class X, the western region performed the best, with a pass percentage of 99.81 per cent, followed by the southern region, with a pass percentage of 99.69 per cent. The southern region also has the highest rate of girls (49.61 per cent) who had appeared in the examination.
However, in the ISC or class XII, the south region has the best pass percentage with 99.20 per cent, followed by the western region, which scored 98.34 per cent. The south region also has the highest percentage of girls (51 per cent).
In class X, nine students shared the top rank with 99.80 per cent marks. They are Rushil Kumar, Ananya Karthik, Shreya Upadhyay, Advay Sardesai, Yash Manish Bhasein, Tanay Sushil Shah, Hiya Sanghavi, Avishi Singh and Sambit Mukhopadhyay. In class XII, five students shared the first rank with 99.75 per cent. They are Riya Aggarwal, Ipshita Bhattacharya, Mohd Aryaan Tariq, Subham Kumar Agarwal and Manya Gupta.
According to CISCE chief executive Gerry Arathoon, the class X (ICSE) exam was conducted in 63 written subjects of which 21 were Indian, 14 were foreign, and two were classical languages. The class XII (ISC) exam was conducted in 47 written subjects, of which 12 were Indian languages, three were foreign languages, and one classical language, he said.
In class X, 237,631 students – 128,131 (53.92 per cent) boys and 1,09,500 (46.08 per cent) girls – took the exam, while in Class 12, 98,505 students attended the exam. While 51,781 (52.57 per cent) were boys, 46,724 (47.43 per cent) were girls in class XII.
