AHMEDABAD: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking at the 200th anniversary of the Swaminarayan Mandir in Vadtal, Gujarat, warned against divisive forces attempting to fracture society along lines of caste, religion, language, and gender.

He stressed the importance of recognising and countering these threats, urging citizens to unite and thwart such efforts for a stronger, unified India.

Addressing the gathering through video conferencing, Prime Minister Modi urged Indians to embrace self-reliance with a call to action.

“To make India self-reliant, no outside help will come - we must achieve it ourselves. It’s the responsibility of 140 crore citizens, including all Hari bhakts here, to work towards this goal,” he said.

Highlighting the importance of grassroots support for economic growth, Modi emphasised, “It starts with being Vocal for Local. By promoting local products, we lay the foundation for a developed India. Our unity and the integrity of the nation are equally essential.”

“Today, unfortunately, some people, driven by vested interests and a narrow mindset, are plotting to divide our society into fragments - across caste, religion, language, gender, and even between villages and cities,” said Prime Minister Modi.

“I don’t know what kind of conspiracy is at work to split us apart, but it is crucial that we recognise the gravity of this threat posed by enemies of the nation. We must understand this crisis, and together, we must stand united to defeat and foil these divisive efforts.” He added.

“For a developed India, empowering our youth is essential. Skilled young people will become our greatest asset, driving our progress and prosperity,” said Prime Minister Modi.

“The global demand for India’s youth is rising, and nearly every world leader I meet expresses a desire to welcome India’s skilled professionals, particularly in IT, to work in their countries. The world is captivated by the potential of India’s youth.” He added.

He added, “Our young talent is ready to meet not only our own nation’s needs but also the needs of the world. Our efforts to support and develop this potential will play a crucial role in building a strong, self-reliant India.”

"Any nation progresses by honouring and preserving its heritage, and this is why our guiding mantra is development alongside heritage," said Prime Minister Modi.

"We take pride in seeing the resurgence of our ancient heritage sites - places once thought lost are being restored to their former glory. Ayodhya stands as a prime example; a dream held for 500 years, passed down through generations who struggled and sacrificed, has now come true.”

He continued, “Today, the transformations of Kashi and Kedarnath, the revitalised Pavagadh Temple after 500 years, and the grand Sun Temple of Modhera and Somnath, reflect a new wave of consciousness and pride across the nation. A new revolution is unfolding, deeply rooted in our heritage and faith.”

On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually joined the 200th anniversary celebrations of the Swaminarayan Mandir in Vadtal, Gujarat.

For decades, this historic temple has played a significant role in shaping the social and spiritual lives of the community.
