NEW DELHI: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has directed all Higher Education Institutions to celebrate the fourth Jan Jatiya Gaurav Diwas from November 15 to 26 to coincide with the Constitution Day.
In a notification to all universities and vice-chancellors, the UGC said the Ministry of Tribal Affairs has declared November 15 as the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, the legendary freedom fighter and tribal leader, as the Jan Jatiya Gaurav Diwas.
“It has been decided to celebrate fourth Jan Jatiya Gaurav Diwas from November 15 and leading up to November 26 to coincide with the Constitution Day, across the nation,” the notice dated November 12 said.
“The 15th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda will be commemorated next year, and year-long celebrations held throughout the country from November 15, 2024, to November 25, 2025, as Jan Jatiya Gaurav Varsh,” said UGC secretary Manish R Joshi’s letter .
“All the Higher Education Institutions are requested to leverage the pool of Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat coordinators, nodal officers or faculty for coordinating and organising the events during Jan Jatiya Gaurav Diwas period from November 15-26 and upload the documentation of events on MY Bharat portal (https://mybharat.gov.in),” the letter said.
The nodal officer will be responsible for sharing the calendar of events during November 15-26 and for the commemorative year up to November 15, 2025, it added.
