BHOPAL: Inter-state synthetic narcotic drug MDMA units continue to be busted in Madhya Pradesh and neighbouring Rajasthan.
The latest cartel to be unearthed was in western MP’s Ratlam district, which was being run under the cover of a poultry farm in Borkheda village under the Piploda police station area on Monday.
The raiding police team seized raw material, including Rs 175 kg of chemicals, 200 gm of manufactured MDMA and related equipment worth over `24 lakh. According to Ratlam district police superintendent Amit Kumar, the unearthing of the illicit drugs unit has led to the busting of an interstate MDMA drug network, which was being run by the kingpin Jamshed Lala, alias Jamshed Seth.
Questioning of the kingpin revealed that he was running the racket in association with those involved in a similar drug trade in other states. The primary probe has also revealed that Lala was accused in multiple NDPS Act cases in MP, Rajasthan and other states.
The investigations further revealed that raw material for making the synthetic drugs was being sourced from the neighbouring Pratapgarh district of Rajasthan, and just before the unit was busted, a large volume of MDMA had been supplied to customers in other states via Rajasthan.
