BALASORE: THE second Kendriya Vidyalaya at Balasore has finally got the nod from Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) to start admission from this academic session.
In 2014, the Centre had approved establishment of 54 new KVs across the country. Along with the second school at Balasore, proposals to open such institutions at Jajpur Road, Hinjilicut in Ganjam district and Angul were also approved by the Expenditure Finance Committee.
In an order, the Sangathan stated that KV-2 at Balasore is one of the new KVs sanctioned by the Centre and since the required land has been leased in favour of the school, the admission process can be initiated from this session.

The school will function at Ganeswarpur shelter building on the outskirts of Balasore town till its own infrastructure is created. It will enrol students from Classes I to V (single section in each class) during the current academic year. The school will add more classes basing on the feasibility.
The KVS has directed to complete the admission process by June 2.  Though 10-acre government land was allotted to the school in Ganeswarpur area, the approval for admission was delayed due to lack of basic amenities in the selected shelter house to run the school. The issue was resolved after Balasore MP Rabindra Kumar Jena sanctioned `7 lakh from his local area development fund.

Collector Pramod Kumar Das said the sanction order of the MP has been given to the Principal of KV-1 and he has been asked to submit utilisation certificate. KVS authorities have assured to appoint a vice-principal and other staff soon to run the school, he added.
The second KV here had become a necessity as hundreds of applications pour in for pre-primary and primary admissions every year.
