BHUBANESWAR: With the advancement of science and technology, the criminals are using sophisticated gadgets making it imperative for police to keep pace with the rapid technological advancements, said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here on Wednesday.
Addressing mediapersons after inaugurating the new building of Command Centre and Control Room of Special Armed Police in Unit-V here, the Chief Minister stressed that it is important for the police force to equip with requisite skills to counter the ant-social elements.
Patnaik also inaugurated the new building of Economic Offences Wing (EOW) and Special Task Force (STF) on Wednesday.
Keeping in view the proliferation of economic offences, the State Government had formed EOW and STF in 2012 to tackle the organised crimes more efficiently, the Chief Minister said.
The two new buildings, Control Room of Special Armed Police and EOW are situated within a distance of few metres.
During the event, Odisha DGP Dr RP Sharma asserted that the new buildings of Special Armed Police and EOW will bolster the police capabilities and it will help them perform and deliver better.
Among others, MP Prasanna Patsani, MLA Priyadarshi Mishra, Bhubaneswar Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena, among others were present.
The EOW and STF office of Crime Branch is a five-storey building and is spread across 47.500 sqft. It has been built at a cost of over `14 crore by Odisha Police Housing and Welfare Corporation.
On the other hand, the Command Centre and Control Room office of Special Armed Police is a four-storey building built at a cost of `7 crore.
