Shillong, Oct 17 (PTI) The Meghalaya home departmenthas transferred 18 senior police officers including 7 IPSofficers, some of whom have been handed out promotions, anofficial notification said today.

The department announced the transfers and promotionsin the state, where assembly elections are due early nextyear.

Deputy Inspector General of Police (Wireless and Radioat Tura) Mukesh Kumar was transferred and posted as DeputyInspector General of Police (CID) at the headquarters here.

Assistant Inspector General of Police (law and order)was posted as Deputy Inspector General of Police at Tura inplace of Kumar.

Spl SP Ricky Dkhar was posted as Deputy InspectorGeneral of Police (security) although without any pay benefitsin view of the exigencies against the post.

Anti Infiltration SP at Tura Heimon Toi was posted asSP anti-infiltration, replacing G K Iangrai who was promotedto Assistant Inspector General of Police.

Shillong SP City Vivek Syiem was transferred and givencharge as SP West Jaintia Hills district replacing R Muthu whowas posted as commandant of 4th battalion.

Syiem will be replaced by Spill Thamar who was holdingcharge as SP (R/RR) here.

The other officers, mostly of the SP ranks, were alsotransferred. They were transferred in the state capital aswell as in the Garo Hills region, among other places. PTI JOPJM.
