Faridabad, Oct 26 (PTI) Haryana Chief Minister ManoharLal Khattar today announced to name YMCA University of Scienceand Technology, Faridabad after renowned scientist JagadishChandra Bose.

Also, in principle approval has been granted for theexpansion of the university over an area of 60 to 65 acres.

The chief minister said this while addressing thevaledictory function of a two-day Science Conclave organisedby the university in collaboration with Department of Scienceand Technology, Haryana to mark the Swarna Jayanticelebrations in the campus here, said an official release.

He also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone ofvarious projects amounting to over Rs. 60 crore.

Addressing the gathering, Khattar said the contributionof famous scientist Jagadish Chandra Bose in the field ofscience is unmatched.

On his name, the university would be known as 'JC BoseYMCA University of Science and TechnologyÂ’. All theformalities related to this would be completed at the veryearliest, he said.

He said that the state government would sympatheticallyconsider the demands raised by the university for the creationof new teaching and non-teaching posts and budgetary provisionfor new courses. He assured that he would visit the universityagain.

Referring to science as the Mother of all inventions, thechief minister said the state government is paying specialattention towards the expansion of technical and scientificfacilities in educational institutes.

He said the government is emphasising on scienceeducation in the schools and in this direction, therecruitment of new science teachers would be done very soon.

Expressing immense pleasure over the completion of threeyears of the present government on October 26, the ChiefMinister said the government has made untiring efforts for theupliftment and development of every sector in the past threeyears, especially education.

He said the progress of the state is only possible withthe support of educated and skilled youth.

Vice-Chancellor Dinesh Kumar apprised about thebackground of the university, programme being executed andsoon to be implemented.

He said the University is planning to initiate variousnew courses and increase the number of teachers from 125 to300.

He urged the chief minister for the sanction of newteaching and non-teaching posts and allotment of 62 acres landidentified on Faridabad-Gurugram road for the second campus ofthe university.

A documentary based on journey of YMCA University from1969 to till date was also screened before the Chief Minister.
